Why Hire A Human Editor?

Summary

AI word generators still make too many errors. It takes a human eye to correct the punctuation, spelling and grammar. It also takes a human to do a proper fact check of your document.

Why hire a real person to edit and fact check your paper, book or grant application if you use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to write the document? Because AI programs, like ChatGPT, Jasper, Grammarly, among others, make basic mistakes. Here are two examples.

In a mid-west court room, an attorney produced his legal brief using an AI program. The problem was that he never checked it. The AI program provided no legal citations or end notes to justify his arguments. The document was so riddled with these errors that the judge threatened the attorney with sanctions if he did not rewrite the document with proper citations.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently produced a major report concerning abortion medications. It is general believed that the authors used an AI program to produce the work. Unfortunately, some of the citations were false and some of the authors of works cited in the report claim they were misrepresented or misquoted. HHS tried once more, possibly using the same AI program, and the same problems occurred.

Sometimes it takes a human eye to catch these errors and correct them before your paper, grant, proposal or book is published.

Proofreading – Also known as a Readability Audit, this is were we look at your product to determine how easy it is to read for your audience and provide some editing. A Readability Audit also helps you to determine who your audience is.

Editing – A review of your document for grammatical, spelling and technical errors, such as the lack of citations or hotlink errors. We will help you polish your product before your submission.

Copyediting – Beyond just editing, Copyediting will rewrite portions of your document to improve its quality and readability. It would include editing that publication while maintaining the author’s “voice” and meaning.

Fact/Reference Checking – There is nothing worse than having an article, column or newsletter with bad citations, incorrect references or hotlinks that do not work. InkAndVoice will scrub your document to determine if the facts, citations and links are correct.

That is why you need a professional to check your work for facts, citations, argument and content. You need to hire InkAndVoice Communication.
